Sri Lanka Police Identify Over 12,000 Traffic Offenses in Colombo with New CCTV and Software System

Since February 2024, Sri Lanka Police have identified 12,918 traffic violations in Colombo using CCTV cameras. The police have been addressing these violations through a special program that captures video evidence, which is forwarded to relevant police stations for issuing fines. To improve the process, Prima Management Services introduced a new 'Traffic Violation Management Software' to the police. This software streamlines the handling of traffic violations by allowing officers to enter vehicle details and the offence type, automatically generating a fine sheet. It also provides updates in all three official languages and ensures accountability, as entries cannot be removed until legal proceedings are completed. The police plan to expand CCTV installation to better monitor traffic and support crime investigations.
