Trump to Visit California Wildfire Zones Amid Tensions Over Disaster Aid

President Trump is scheduled to visit Los Angeles on Friday to assess the damage caused by wildfires, amid an ongoing dispute with California Governor Gavin Newsom over disaster relief. Trump has been critical of Newsom's handling of the wildfire situation and has pushed to attach conditions to federal disaster aid, particularly related to water policies and forest management in California. In an interview with Fox News's Sean Hannity, Trump stated that he would first stop in North Carolina to address the lingering effects of Hurricane Helene from several months ago, before heading to California. While Trump's White House schedule hadn't been officially released, Newsom confirmed he would be at the airport to greet the president. This visit comes as Trump and some Republican lawmakers advocate for changes to California’s policies before granting full disaster relief funding.
