VFS Global's statement clarifies its role in the E-Visa system of Sri Lanka and addresses certain concerns that have been raised. Here's a breakdown:



1. Background and Experience - VFS Global has been operating in Sri Lanka since 2004, facilitating visa application processes for 23 governments. They have processed over 3.2 million applications in Sri Lanka since then.


2. Contract with Sri Lankan Government - VFS Global is a technology partner for the Sri Lankan government's E-Visa solution, managed under a tripartite contract with GBS Technology Services & IVS Global FZCO. They are responsible for non-judgmental and administrative tasks only.


3. Employee Composition - VFS Global employs over 123 Sri Lankan nationals and expects this number to increase. Currently, they have 66 Sri Lankan nationals employed.


4. Experience with E-Visa Platforms - VFS Global has experience offering digital E-Visa platforms to 12 governments worldwide.


5. Objective of the E-Visa System - The adoption of VFS Global's digital platform aims to modernize and make the visa process seamless to boost tourism and investment opportunities in Sri Lanka.


6. Visa Categories and Support - Travellers can choose from 17 non-resident visa categories, and support is provided through a dedicated contact center in multiple languages, with plans to expand language support further.


7. Funding Model - The E-Visa system operates on a user-pay model, with no cost to the government. All investments related to technology, infrastructure, and staff are covered by VFS Global.


8. Service Fees - A total service fee of US$ 18.50 across all visa categories is approved by the Cabinet. Additional charges such as payment processing fees and local taxes apply.


9. Government Benefits - The government benefits from increased efficiencies, transparency, and improved resource utilization through the E-Visa system.


By providing these clarifications, VFS Global aims to address concerns and provide transparency regarding its role and the functioning of the E-Visa system in Sri Lanka.
