The Kuwaiti Dinar has become the first currency in Sri Lanka to surpass the Rs. 1000 mark in some banks.
The Dinar is currently selling for Rs. 1001.70, according to the State Bank of Ceylon.
The rupee has also fallen in value for other Middle Eastern currencies.
The Bahrain Dinar is now worth Rs. 797.33, while the Omani Riyal is worth Rs. 785.59.
The Qatari riyal has risen to Rs. 83.98, while the Saudi riyal has risen to Rs. 84.24.
The diram of the United Arab Emirates has risen to Rs. 84.87 today.
