The current showery weather pattern is expected to continue - Met Dept.

According to the Department of Meteorology, the low-level atmospheric disturbance is still present in the vicinity of Sri Lanka, and thus the current showery condition is expected to persist.

Showers or thundershowers are expected over most of the island over the next 36 hours, according to the forecast.

Heavy rains of more than 100 mm are expected in parts of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-western, Northern, and Northern-central provinces, as well as Galle, Matara, and Trincomalee districts.

Showers of up to 75 mm are expected in some areas elsewhere as well. Wind speeds in the Southern province can reach 40-50 km/h at times.

The general public is kindly asked to take appropriate precautions to reduce damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

From the 5th to the 15th of April this year, the sun will be directly over the latitudes of Sri Lanka due to its apparent northward relative motion. Tomorrow (11) at approximately 12.11 p.m., the sun will be overhead in Ulukkulama, Anuradhapura New Town, Kayinattama, and Palugollewa.
