Litro makes a request to the Cabinet to raise gas prices.

According to the company's chairman, Theshara Jayasinghe, Litro Gas Lanka Ltd. has submitted a request to the Cabinet of Ministers to increase the prices of LP gas.



During a press conference, the Litro chairman stated that the company is now releasing approximately 30,000 LP gas cylinders to the market daily, exceeding the daily requirement and that they have released nearly one million LP gas cylinders to the market in the last ten days.


Mr. Jayasinghe went on to say that Litro Gas has already placed an order for 30,000 metric tons of LP gas for April.


In response to the Cabinet of Ministers' request for a price increase, the Litro chairman stated that the rates cannot be announced at this time.


In response to a question, he stated that no decision has been made not to implement a price increase for two or three weeks. According to Mr. Jayasinghe, the company is currently losing USD 4.5 billion.
