The 'fourth wave' of COVID must be prepared for Sri Lanka

According to State Minister Prof. Channa Jayasumana, there has been a progressive increase in the number of new coronavirus infections reported in the country during the last week.

The Anuradhapura District alone, he claimed, there has been a considerable spike in Covid-19 instances in and around Anuradhapura town in the last two weeks or so.

"We've paid special attention to this," he added, adding that the public has begun to act as if there are no Covid-19 cases in the country.

The possibility of a 'fourth wave' of coronavirus, according to the State Minister, is currently trending over the world.

He claims that a 'hazardous' fourth wave of Covid-19 is expected around December this year, and that there is no way for Sri Lanka to escape it on its own.

"We need to focus our attention and make preparations," he stated.

He asked the people to exercise caution, particularly during these days, and emphasized the significance of wearing facemasks properly.
