In several sections of the country, heavy rain is forecast.

Cloudy skies will prevail over most of the island, according to the Department of Meteorology, and showers or thundershowers will occur at times across most of the island.

Showers with a rainfall total of more than 150mm are expected in parts of the Western, North-western, and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as the Nuwara-Eliya and Kandy districts.

Heavy rains of up to 100 mm are expected in some areas of the Uva and Northern provinces, as well as the districts of Matale, Galle, and Matara, according to the forecast.

During thundershowers, the general public is cordially asked to take appropriate precautions to reduce harm caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning.
