Today, rain or thundershowers are possible in six provinces.

The Department of Meteorology predicts showers or thundershowers in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-western, Northern, and Southern provinces.

As a result, moderately heavy showers of about 50 mm are forecast in various areas of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Central provinces, as well as the Galle and Matara districts.

Showers or thundershowers are expected in a number of locations along the coast from Kankesanturai to Hambantota, via Puttalam, Colombo, and Galle. Showers or thundershowers may occur in a few places around the island in the afternoon or at night.

The winds will be blowing from the south-west. The wind speed in the sea areas around the island will be (30-40) kmph, with gusts reaching (50-55) kmph in the sea areas spanning from Galle to Batticaloa via Matara, Hambantota, and Pottuvil.

The seas between Galle and Batticaloa, via Matara, Hambantota, and Pottuvil, can be rough at times. Other sea locations will be mild.
