In two provinces, schools with less than 200 students will reopen.

All primary schools in Uva Province with fewer than 200 students will resume on October 18, according to Governor A. J. Muzammil.


According to the Governor, all provincial education offices have been directed to make the required preparations to open schools on the scheduled date.


“On the proposal of education and health officials, we have decided in the Uva Province to make plans for the opening of elementary schools with less than 200 children on the 18th of next month [October].” As a result, we have directed all Zonal Directors of Education to make the required preparations for the opening of schools on October 18th.”


Meanwhile, all schools in the Southern Province with fewer than 200 students will reopen for academic purposes in October.


Willy Gamage, Governor of Southern Province, stated that the schools that meet the aforementioned conditions will resume on October 21.


“In the Southern Province, there are 514 such schools. We have had preliminary consultations with both the health and education sectors. Furthermore, the school has been cleansed, disinfected, and prepared for this purpose with the help of the Pradeshiya Sabhas.


We intend to have such schools operating in all nine provinces by the 21st of this month [October].”
