As COVID grows, New Zealand tightens travel regulations.

To enter the country, all air travelers who are not New Zealand citizens must be properly vaccinated.

New Zealand has announced tougher border controls in response to the emergence of new COVID-19 cases in previously uninfected areas.

“We are implementing the requirement for air travellers aged 17 and older who are not New Zealand nationals to be fully vaccinated to enter New Zealand,” Christ Hipkins, the COVID-19 response minister, said on Sunday.

Air New Zealand, the country's flag carrier, recently announced a "no jab, no fly" policy for passengers on all international flights beginning February 1.

The government has been enormously successful in limiting the virus, claiming only 27 deaths in a population of five million people, owing partly to strong border controls and lockdowns, allowing pre-pandemic life to resume to a great extent.
