Vaccination for people aged 30 and up will be completed this week: Govt.

While acknowledging that some people are hesitant to acquire COVID immunizations due to needle anxiety, State Minister Channa Jayasumana said today that the vaccination program for adults over 30 years old should be completed by the end of this week.

He told reporters that 96 percent of the target group had already been vaccinated.

“We need persons above the age of 30 to help us finish the vaccine by this Friday or Saturday. Those who have not yet been vaccinated for a variety of reasons, including needle phobia, are encouraged to do so without further delay or hesitation,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the State Minister stated that a significant proportion of people aged 20 to 29 have expressed hesitation to receive the vaccine due to social media misinformation such as COVID shots harming fertility.

“When we investigated this, we discovered that these reports are false. As a result, we sincerely implore that individuals in the aforementioned age bracket obtain the immunization without fear,” he added.
