The quarantine curfew has been extended until October 1st.

The quarantine curfew that is now in effect throughout the island has been extended until 4 a.m. on October 1 (Friday), according to the President's Spokesman.

In a tweet, he stated that the decision was made during the Special Committee on COVID-19 Control meeting this morning, which was presided over by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa (17).

This was also confirmed by Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, who tweeted that the "conditional lockdown" will remain in effect until October 1.

However, government vital services that have an economic impact would be allowed to operate, according to the minister, who added that the conditions will be announced soon.

According to President Rajapaksa, the Health Minister will speak with Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa to determine which government institutions will be kept open as important services that contribute to the economy.

He advised the public to follow health standards and to take advantage of this opportunity to be vaccinated.

On August 20, a ten-day island-wide quarantine curfew was enforced, although the restrictions were later extended on many occasions in an effort to slow the spread of the virus and speed up the vaccination process.
