Covid-19 sufferers in Sri Lanka are being infected with a black fungus.

COVID-19 patients with 'Black fungus' have been identified from around the country, according to Deputy Director General of Health Services Dr Hemantha Herath.


He stated that the instances have been reported from a number of facilities, including the Colombo National Hospital, Kurnegala, and Rathnapura.


"The symptoms of this disease vary according on where the fungus appears on the body. The fungus can be found on the skin, around the eyes, nose, brain, and lungs, among other places "He elaborated.


“These fungi are present in the environment. This fungus is especially dangerous to people who have a weakened immune system, according to Dr. Herath.


He went on to claim that this disease does not transmit from person to person and has no chance of becoming an epidemic.


Since 2019, ordinary patients with black fungus have been discovered in Sri Lanka. This is the first time that COVID-19 patients have been afflicted with black fungus.
